Donald Trump Testifies That He Feared Being Hit By "Very Dangerous" Fruit

Image
New York:  Ex-president Donald Trump testified under oath that he feared protesters would pelt him with "very dangerous" fruit like pineapples, tomatoes, and bananas saying: "You can get killed with those things." The comments were revealed in court documents made public Tuesday which included a transcript of a deposition Trump gave last October as part of an ongoing civil lawsuit in New York. The case was brought by several activists of Mexican descent who say they were attacked by his security guards outside Trump Tower in Manhattan in 2015. "I wanted to have people be ready because we were put on alert that they were going to do fruit," Trump said under questioning by attorney Benjamin Dictor. He added that "tomatoes are bad, by the way" but that "some fruit is a lot worse." Dictor asked Trump about comments he made at a rally in Iowa in 2016 when the then-presidential candidate told supporters to "knock the crap" out of ...

US Judge Rejects Elon Musk's Bid To End Supervision Of 2018 Tesla Tweets

Image
New York:  Twitter's new buyer Elon Musk still must have his tweets about his electric car company Tesla pre-approved after a US judge on Wednesday rejected an appeal to free him from oversight. Musk last month filed a motion to overturn Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) restrictions imposed following his 2018 tweet, in which he said he had acquired funding to take Tesla private, but did not provide proof or file paperwork with the securities regulator. The tweet, which caused share prices to fluctuate wildly, was ruled to be "false and misleading" and shareholders have accused Tesla of securities fraud. The SEC also charged Musk with fraud and ordered him to step down as chair of Tesla's board of directors, pay a $20 million fine and, after another unfortunate tweet in early 2019, demanded his tweets directly related to business of the company be pre-approved by a competent lawyer. Musk said he was forced to agree to the deal, and denies lying to shareholders....

Universal Studios in Beijing announced late on Wednesday it would require visitors to show negative test results before they could enter the theme park, starting on Friday. Across Beijing, positive cases were found among the nearly 20 million samples acquired in the first round of mass testing, but numbers remained small. The city on Thursday reported 50 new infections for April 27, up from 34 a day earlier. Since April 22, Beijing has found over 160 cases, more than half in Chaoyang, th...
